Coach Clinics

Canada Soccer GRASSROOTS Coach Education Program

Saskatchewan Soccer is pleased to offer coach training for aspiring coaches across the province. In conjunction with Canada Soccer, we have made coach education more accessible by moving to a blended learning format allowing coaches to complete the theoretical part of the course online (PART1) and the on-field component (PART 2) by attending an in person practical workshop.

In addition, Canada Soccer has launched an online learning management system to lower the barrier to access for grassroots volunteer, parent, and guardian coaches. The new coach education platform allows coaches anywhere to complete the theory component of the Active Start, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Soccer for Life courses online.

Canada Soccer has also added a new core component of the Grassroots Coach Education Program - Coaching Soccer in Canada, which has streamlined duplicate information from each of the courses into one simple module.

Want to become a coach?

STEP 1.  REQUEST A CODE FOR YOUR ONLINE THEORY TRAINING:  Coaches who are interested in taking the new grassroots coach education program will be given a keycode from your home Association/Club.  Please contact your town/club's coach coordinator to access the online theory portion of the Canada Soccer Education Program. To choose which course is right for you, please refer to the Canada Soccer Coach Education Program pathway and the course descriptions outlined below.

Active Start Workshop
Is designed for coaches of U4 to U6 players and consists of completing 1.5 hours of online training followed by a 2-hour Practical On-Field Workshop. No pre-requisites required.

FUNdamentals Workshop

STEP 2.  REGISTER FOR AN IN-PERSON CLINIC TO COMPLETE YOUR TRAINING

In-person Coach Clinics - Register Here

Clinic cancellation decisions will be made if minimum registration is not reached. Registration after the deadline may be permitted based on availability.  Priority registration is given to members of the Valley Soccer Association, if you are not a member and wish to register for a clinic, please email vsainfo@valleysoccer.ca and your registration will be considered based on availability.  The cost of the in-person clinic will be covered for members of VSA.  If any coach signs up for the clinic and fails to attend, the town/club/city association will be charged the cost of the clinic.  Please bring a pad of paper, pen, bottle of water, comfortable clothes and indoor running shoes to the clinic.

STEP 3.  COMPLETE YOUR CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (WITH VULNERABLE SECTOR CLEARANCE) AND YOUR RESPECT IN SPORT CERTIFICATION.

All coaches must obtain a valid criminal record check (within the last 2 years), NCCP Rule of Two and Respect in Sport (valid for 5 years).  If you require a letter to obtain your criminal record check (with vulnerable sector clearance), or if you have any questions, please contact your local member association for a letter of reference.  *Please note:  ALL STAFF (COACHES/ASSISTANT COACHES/MANAGERS) MUST HAVE THEIR CRC AND VSS IMAGE OR PDF UPLOADED TO RAMP.  NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Respect in Sport is mandatory for all coaches and managers. Please complete this training online and provide your certificate number to your home association administration.
